Day 1: Arrival in Maputo

Arrival in Maputo, pick you up from the airport and transfer to your hotel. After settling in, a short walk around the city visiting the Iron House, Cathedral, Tunduro Garden and more. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Maputo National Park

Early in the morning, drive towards Maputo National park, crossing the brand new Maputo-Catembe Bridge. In this Park, discover the unique aspects of the wild and its magnificent ecosystems filled with rich and extraordinary Biomes. On the way pass by the Salamanga Hindu Temple and make a stop at a local bread factory.

Day 3: Maputo – Maputo City and Mafalala Walking Tour

After breakfast, visit the most iconic and heritage places of Maputo as the Railway station, the fortress, The Museum of Natural History, the Central Market and FEIMA Art Craft Market. After lunch, go to Mafalala for a walk and discover the development of Maputo since the colonial era, their story of independence as the area where most of the freedom fighters lived, and a chance to learn about the cultural diversity as you interact with the locals.

        

Day 4: Maputo- Tofo Beach

Breakfast at the hotel and our guide will pick you up at your accommodation at 8:00 AM. There will be at least 2X comfort brakes (one at Zavala known for its spectacular lagoons) during the trip that will last around 7 hours. We expect to have a light lunch at Chidenguele. We expect to arrive at the relaxed and beautiful Tofo beach around 03:00 pm. Dinner will be served at a local restaurant.

                                                                     
Day 5: Tofo - Whale Watching (June to October)

The specialty is a half-day experience that starts with a lesson about the magnificent whales of Tofo. Get a fully brief about boat launching procedures, codes of conduct and how we interact with the whales. During the time at the sea, observe several groups of whales, listen to their singing through hydrophone, try to take ID pictures of their flukes and learn more about their behavior and conservation. If possible, get an opportunity to swim with these intelligent mammals where you may enter the water with them. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant and we will have the afternoon to visit the local market based in Tofo and have an opportunity to interact with the local crafters and vendors

Day 6: Tofo - Tofo Life Community Experience

Spend the morning taking part in village activities such as planting crops, harvesting, drawing water from the well, preparing food, weaving roofing cover; activities vary according to the weather and the season. Grasp at how the community performs their work and are encouraged to join in and try for yourself if you like. Enjoy lunch, a local dish called matapa with the hosts, which is made from cassava leaves, peanuts and coconuts. After lunch, say goodbyes and head back to Tofo. After the trip, take voluntary donations going towards the community fund. This fund is used for projects that benefit everyone in the Tofo Josina Machel community and contributions are much appreciated.

Day 7: Tofo – Pansy Island Tour

Start the day with a visit to the paradisiac Pansy Island, well known for the abundance of Pansy shells and for its long sandy beach and crystal clear waters. Enjoy the place as you go for a swim, have a meal under a cool shade, or simply relax. It is time to embark on a Dhow Cruise and be enchanted by the breathtaking scenery of the most beautiful beaches in the world! During the visit, an opportunity to savor lunch in the Pig Island and taste the traditional Mozambican food. Explore and visit the magnificent people and views of Tofo and Tofinho Beach, and understand how they live in this magnificent paradise.

Day 8:  Tofo – Maputo

Pick you up from the hotel and start to drive back to Maputo with 2X comfort brakes during the trip that will last around 7 hours.

Day 9:  Short Maputo Art and Culture Tour

This short tour will take place in the morning before we head to Maputo airport. On the way visit significant artistic, historical and cultural sites in Maputo City and its colorful surrounding neighborhoods, in the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle. Stops along the route include Xipamanine Market, Noel Langa’s house and Art Gallery.
