Day 1  Monday 8 April 2024: Home > Antananarivo 

Today we arrive at Antananarivo Airport - Tana, as the capital is universally known, has been the home of Malagasy power for three centuries and there's a huge amount of history and culture to discover, as well as some unexpected wildlife options. There are also some excellent markets and shops that stock products and crafts from across the country at very competitive prices. Upon arrival we meet our local team and transfer  to hotel. Evening we have an orientation session with all the group members and our local team. Dinner Included today

 

Day 2  Tuesday 9 April 2024: Antananarivo > Antsirabe

Breakfast then road to the South by the national road 7. Stop for a visit to the foundry and the city in Ambatolampy. Then continue to Antsirabe. We cross the region of the Highlands, which offers a mosaic of colors between its rice terraces, cultures and traditional red brick houses of its many villages. Here, the warm and communicative population is undoubtedly another great encounter on our way. We reach Antsirabe in the afternoon. Continuing to Tritriva, a crater lake then several workshops to see Malagasy handcraft and to discover how Malagasy people recycle everything. Breakfast and dinner included today

 

Day 3  Wednesday 10 April 2024:  Antsirabe > Ranomafana

Breakfast, city tour by rickshaw. We continue the road, still on road N7 and progress towards the south. We shop around in Ambositra and visit Zafimaniry artisans workshop, trying to find carved wood or a piece of marquetery box made with care. We stroll around in town. We continue to Ranomafana. We are in the heart of Betsileo tribe area. We are on the highest part of Madagascar Highlands and the road is more and more winding. We turn off to the east and arrive in the rainforest in late afternoon. Upon arrival, we will check into the hotel, then nocturnal visit. Breakfast and dinner included

 

Day 4  Thursday 11 April 2024:  Ranomafana > Tsaranoro

After a breakfast, we get in Ranomafana National Park.

This is one of the most beautiful sites that the primary forest and rain forest in Madagascar can offer.

We walk into the park with a local guide in this very humid environment.

You should take with you waterproofs for the visit.

We can find many species of lemurs as the Golden bamboo lemur (Hapalemur aureus),

the red-fronted brown lemur (Eulemur fulvus), red-bellied lemur (Eulemur rubriventer)

and we can meet also some rare and endangered species as the Greater bamboo lemur (Hapalemur simus).

After lunch, we leave Ranomafana to join Tsaranoro’s village. Stop for visit of paper Antemoro manufacturing.

We continue our tour till Vohitsaoka.

We take the track till the village of Tsaranoro. This beautifull valley is behind of the Andringitra Massif.

Day 5  Friday 12 April 2024:  Tsaranoro

Breakfast.  We beging our walk through this beautiful valley. Varied circuits are arranged to give a satisfaction to the travelers. In each circuit, you will admire different landscapes: sacred forest, forest of palm trees that grow in high mountains; Bamboo forest. Overnight at the hotel. Breakfast and dinner included

 

Day 6  Saturday 13 April 2024:  Tsaranoro > Ranohira

After breakfast.  We leave Tsaranoro, take the track till Vohitsaoka. Before joining Ranohira, we will visit Anja Community Reserve, a unique environmental and cultural preservation site in the south of Madagascar. After we join the N7. We continue our trip till Ranohira. Breakfast and dinner included

 

Day 7  Sunday 14 April 2024:  Visit of Isalo National Park

A short drive to join Isalo foothill. We start the walk quietly with a small rucksack,

through impressive landscape, canyons, natural pool and magic rock erosions.

Isalo ruin form massif is a continental sandstone plateau from Jurassic era.

There are many rock formations with different shapes here.

The nature has adapted to dry climate.

This park has a different ecosystem, endemic rupicolous flora such as Aloe,

Euphorbia, Pachypodium and Kalanchoe ...

We picnic in the Tapia forest.

Some walks are possible around, going up to summits gives splendid view.

Day 8  Monday 15 April 2024:  Ranohira > Tuléar > Ifaty

After breakfast, we leave our hotel and progress to the south and pass through the surprising Ilakaka village. It was a rush related with the sapphire mining which attracted more than 100 000 people in the early 2000s. Now the enthusiasm is down. Visit of the Zombitse National Park. This park protects one of the last stands of dense dry forest in all of southern Madagascar, a bird-rich island of foliage in the heart of a denuded semi-desert landscape. The park's 36,300 hectares shelters an astounding 72 recorded bird species and eight lemur species. We then keep on on the South West. Drive directly to the fishing village Ifaty, an ideal place for diving and relaxation, for the visit of Reniala reserve, a private reserve located near the sea and lists some sixty bird species. Day 10  Wednesday 17 April 2024:  Ifaty > Tuléar > Tana

Morning at leisure. After lunch, transfer to the airport to fly to Antananarivo. Welcoming then, transfer to our hotel. Breakfast and dinner included

Day 11  Thursday 18 April 2024: Visit of Ambohimanga’s hill and city tour

A cultural day, visit of Ambohimanga hill, known as the "blue hill" (Unesco heritage). Lunch at the "ANKALANA" restaurant. Return to Tana, then a city tour of Antananarivo to discover the upper town (Queen's Palace, Prime Minister's Palace, etc.), the middle town, a visit to the flower market, the lower town with the Soarano station, then back to the upper town to admire the sunset at "Vue Royale". Breakfast and dinner included

Day 12  Friday 19 April 2024: Antananarivo > Departure

Visit and shopping at the market handcraft. Transfer back to the airport for check-in. Fly homewards.
