Day 1

Arrive at Kigali International Airport where we are met by our local representative and transferred to our hotel.  Depending on flight arrival, we will enjoy a short tour of the city. Overnight in Kigali

Day 2

Early this morning we will drive to Akagera National Park and enjoy a true safari experience.  Here we will see hundreds of bird species, animals and flowers.  The highlights is of course the “Big Five” African animals:  Lions, Elephants, Buffalos, Leopard and Rhinos. Overnight in Akagera

Day 3

We start the day with visiting local Rwandan communities with an opportunity to interact with the people and learn about their lives and culture.  Continue across the border to Uganda where we arrive to Kibale National Park – home to the chimpanzees. Overnight in Kibale

 

Day 4

Today, after your early morning cup of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and chimpanzee trekking. You will be entitled to one hour on finding the chimpanzees. After doing the chimpanzee trek, head for BREAKFAST before other

 

Day 5

Drive through the beautiful countryside of Uganda, lakes, forests and hills toward the Virunga Massif Mountains.  On the way we will stop at local villages and observation points.  Arrive at Bwindi Imprentable Forest’ home to the majestic Mountain Gorillas. Overnight in Bwindi

 

Day 6

Early this morning we will start the trek to see the Gorillas.  Our first stop is at the visitor center where we will be assigned a Gorilla family.  We will then go to “meet” this family as we will be able to see them from quite close by.  In the afternoon and evening we will enjoy interaction with yet more local communities and a bone fire. Day 7

Cross the border back to Rwanda and drive to Lake Kivu.  Here we will enjoy the vistas over the lake considered to be one of the most beautiful in Africa.  We will visit some of  the islands on the lake and join the local fishermen in their traditional evening singing and fishing activity. Overnight in Lake Kivu

 

Day 8

Drive to Kigali.  Transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
