Days

Day 1:

Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport near Amman where we will meet our guide.  Transfer to our hotel in Amman.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 2

Start experiencing Jordan by learning the basics of traditional cuisine as you cook your first meal and enjoy a eating it at Beit Sitti. Enjoy this cooking experience where you will make appetizers, a main course, & Jordan's favorite dessert: Knafeh.  In the afternoon we will explore Downtown Amman, The Roman Theater, the busy markets and the Citadel overlooking the entire city.

Day 3

Drive to Jerash, the "Pompeii of the East" which is perhaps, the best preserved of the provincial Roman towns. Around its colonnaded main street, see the Cardo, South Theatre, Temple of Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the Artemis Temple and the Nymphaeum. Experience making sundry tomato pastry. Bookagri woman farmer will Experience traditional pottery making: Bookagri woman farmer will welcome you to her 140 years old home that is made of natural stone and mud that overlooks agricultural valleys of Jerash. She will walk you through how the pottery clay is made (mixing the local dirt and soil with lift over straw collected after wheat harvest) and will show you how to shape a cup or anything of your preference (the piece you make you can have). The pottery experience is followed by the second meal of the day and that is the traditional food of Jerash farmers: Seasonal fresh salad, freshly made yoghurt, Rashoof (cooked dry yoghurt with burghul, fried onion, herbs lintels) beside the dish of the season. As for the sweet it will be Zalabia (a traditional sweet dough rich with sesame, black cumin seeds, pine, turmeric, olive oil, and whole wheat flour and fried in olive oil and sprinkled with sugar). Return to Amman for overnight.

 

Day 4

In the morning, depart to Kerak the ancient walled city steeped in history, which has been known by many names during its long and eminent past and Enjoy Experience the daily chores of a local farming family in Karak like baking Taboon bread, picking free range eggs for breakfast, milking sheep and have a local organic Karaki breakfast as you overlook the Mujeb valley from Karak side. Explore the nearby village and ruins dating back to the ancient times of the Byzantines and Romans. Dress up in Madraqa (the traditional dress of Karak) and take marvelous pictures across the Mujeb valley. Experience and fluff natural wool to stuff it in pillow cases as clients have tea and Arabic coffee. This experience focuses on the value of wool after sheering the sheep, villagers used to use natural wool to stuff their mattresses and pillows instead of today's polystyrene. Experience making straw plates or baskets and veggies with a Bookagri woman farmer at her agricultural land and learn how to roast barely coffee and brew it as a traditional hot healthy drink. Next experience making Mansaf (cooked dry yoghurt with lamb meat and white rice sprinkled with roasted pine) the traditional food of Jordan and have it for lunch. Experience the making of Jameed (the dry yoghurt) Enjoy making goat white cheese (starting the month of March untill the end of June) This experience is seasonal and when time permits.

Day 5

In the morning we will enjoy a Jeep Tour the spectacular desert of Wadi Rum & have lunch in a Bedouin tent followed by the traditional freshly roasted coffee & cardamom.  Drive to Aqaba, Jordan’s port city on the Red Sea.  Here we will explore the city including a food walking tour of the busy markets and a visit to Ayla ruins thought to be the remains of Biblical Etzion Gaber.  IN the evening we will enjoy a fish and seafood dinner at one of the restaurants in the city.

Day 6

Drive north through the Desert and King’s Highways and among the spectacular vistas of The Edom Mountains to Petra.  Upon arrival we will enter the “Rose Red City Half As Ancient As Time”.  Petra was the capital of the rich Nabbatean Empire and many of its monuments, temples and tombs were carved out of the red sand stone.  We enter the ancient city through a narrow creek called The Siq which reveals a beautiful view of Petra’s most famous monument:  The Treasury.  We will also see the theater, many tombs, temples and houses, all carved from the rock.

Day 7

In the morning we will leave Petra and drive north to Madaba.  Here we visit the Church of St. George with its beautiful Byzantine mosaic floor depicting a map of the Holy Land. Madaba is known for its mosaics and we visit a workshop were we learn all about the art of making mosaics.  On to Mount Nebo, the site where Moses watched over The Promised Land before dying.  We enjoy the view and a traditional Jordanian dinner at a local restaurant.  Drive to The Dead Sea for overnight

 

Day 8

A full day at leisure on the shores of the Dead Sea where we can experience the unique feeling of floating on the water and use the hotel’s extensive spa facilities.

Day 9

Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport for departing flight.
