Day 1: Athens

Arrival in Athens. Our assistant will be waiting you for the transfer from the airport to the Hotel. Take advantage of your assistant local tips and start a stroll through the center of Athens for a first taste of the city.

 

Day 2 : Athens

The Athens city tour will be passing through the main highlights of the city. We start from Hadrian's Arch and continue visiting the Panathinaiko Stadium (also known as Kalimarmaro), which was originally built in 329 BC, and where the first Olympics of the modern era were held in 1896. We continue to the main square of the city named "Syntagma " square (Constitution), where the presidential guard is located. With its typical costumes, the so called" Evzonos " make the change of guard in front of the Greek parliament and the Tomb of the unknown soldier. After we continue the panoramic tour visiting the Neoclassical buildings of Athens such as the College, the library and the Academy, and finally we will visit Acropolis and Parthenon, this magnificent monument built in 447 BC during the golden age of Pericles dedicated to Goddess Athena. We will appreciate the Propylaea, temple of Athens Nike, Erechtheum and all its magnificent constructions. After Acropolis we will visit the Acropolis Museum, a building of a modern architecture, hosting the unique antiquities from the Acropolis

  

Day 3 :Athens 

Foody Walking tour – daily except Sundays

We will walk to Monastiraki, to visit the central food market, and see all the local spices, Greek olive oil, and traditional Greek products. Visit food shops and taste local delicacies of the Country.

We start from a traditional coffee shop in Athens to taste the local “Greek coffee” with a “tirpoita” cheese pie. We continue our visit at a traditional dairy product shop which has the famous Greek yogurt made by their own flock of sheep. We can taste the yogurt with honey and walnuts and the local cheese. Our visit will continue to the central food market where you can see all the spices, meats, seafood and generally all the local products that the Greek culinary can offer. We pay also a visit to a traditional shop for cold cuts and spices and we have a degustation of its traditional products. Finally, we will have lunch at a famous Souvlaki restaurant to taste the most popular “street food” which is the “Souvlaki”. We suggest you not to have a breakfast before the tour and come hungry!

 

Οlive Oil Tasting

Greeks were the first to cultivate olive trees in the European Mediterranean area. Since then, the olive tree has been an integral part of the Greek cuisine. It is the core element of the internationally acclaimed Mediterranean Diet, it is connected to our culture, history, mythology and tradition. In this interactive seminar, you will learn how to select, taste an appreciate Extra Virgin Olive Oil, bust all the common myths, but above all you will learn how to integrate this nutritional treasure into your daily life! Ready to become an olive oil expert and experience the most important Greek harvest of the year?

You will be tasting 4 special indigenous varieties of Greek Extra Virgin Olive Oil along with fresh local appetizers & perform the “hot potato test” in order to really taste the essence of the olive oil. A sweet chocolate dessert… with a twist will serve as a final surprise!

 

Day 4 : Mykonos

Transfer from the Hotel to the port for your ferry to the island of Mykonos. Arrival in Mykonos and transfer you to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to discover the cosmopolitan town of Mykonos or explore some of the beaches. In the evening enjoy a cocktail at the “little Venice” with fantastic views of the sunset.

 

Day 5 :Mykonos

COOKING CLASS:

Minimum 12 persons

During this 6 hrs you will experience the traditional Greek way of life, the culture and the Greek art of cooking. The owner will invite you into her home and share stories about Mykonian lifestyle while you taste meze snacks like dakos with kopanisti cheese, louza, wine and raki. You will wander through her vegetable garden, learn about organic farming and then into the kitchen where you will make tzatziki and spinach pie, stuffed tomatoes and beef with orzo. You will have the opportunity to master your cooking skills. While your meal is baking, we transfer you to the beach for swimming. You will leave having made new friends, taken memorable photos and in love with the Greek cuisine.

 

Day 6 : Mykonos

Free day in the island of Mykonos. Explore the island which has a variety of beaches and beach bars, each with different characteristics. In the afternoon, a walk through the narrow alleys of the center will unveil the charm and uniqueness of the island where you can see the famous windmills formerly used by the inhabitants, typical of the Cycladic architecture. In the evening enjoy a cocktail in one of the numerous bars scattered around the sidewalks of the center “hora” and enjoy the famous night out in the island.

Alternatively visit the island of Delos, one of the most important archaeological sites, that are part of history and Greek mythology. Delos was considered in Greek mythology as a holy sanctuary, which is the birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis.

 

Day 7 : Santorini

Transfer from the Hotel to the port for the ferry to island of Santorini. Arrival in Santorini and transfer to your Hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day free for first impression of the island.

Day 8 :Santorini-  Optional tours

EAT AND WALK FOOD TOUR

Time : 10 :00 -14 :00 or 17 :00 till Sunset

Our local food expert will meet you at Firostefani and lead you through the traditional towns of Firostefani and Fira, following a pebbled downhill footpath right on the edge of world famous Santorini caldera.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to taste Santorini & Greek food, street food, samples of local beer, wine and raki, Cycladic cheeses & cold cuts, olive oil tasting, delicacies from bakery and traditional sweets.

• Included: minimum of 7 stops along the way with lots of yummy Greek food, including olive oil tasting, Santorini wine, local Raki and Santorini beer.

• Activity difficulty: moderate to easy, with some steps, approx. 2.5km/1 mile.

BEER & SPIRITS TASTING TOUR

Time: 18:00 21:30-22:00

Description:

The tour starts with a visit at a refurbished distillery- museum with recreated workplaces and homerooms of the people of Santorini in the recent past. The participants will have the chance to taste folklore snaps and traditional spirits with a modern twist!

A visit at a brand new beer house follows! The visitors will learn from firsthand how beer is made and they will see original brewing tanks! A variety of local delicacies paired with unique, indigenous beers will be the perfect after note of the experience!

A blend of Santorini’s best tastes and flavors with a “touch” of your effort to cook authentic Santorinian recipes are the main ingredients of the experience that is the Cooking & Tasting Experience Tour. Experience the joy of cooking traditional Santorinian dishes, savor the memory of an exquisite gastronomic experience with the delicious tastes of the island, and take home a booklet with all the recipes you cooked. The tour includes the visit to a winery, and a hands-on cooking lesson, by local experts, along with information about the local wines and finally, the pleasure of enjoying your gastronomic creations.

Day 9 : Santorini

Free day in the island of Santorini. The island of Santorini is famous for its spectacular views of the Caldera, the typical whitewashed houses with stunning views of the Aegean Sea. Around 1600 BC the island was the site of the Minoan eruption, which left a large crater named Caldera and was possibly the cause of the extinction of the Minoan civilization of Crete with a giant tsunami caused by the eruption. Another theory says that this was the origin of the legend of Atlantis.

Santorini has unique volcanic sand beaches with black or red colors depending on which beach you visit. The afternoon don’t miss the famous sunset seen in the typical village of Oia (pronounced Ia), where the sun seems to sink into the Aegean blue sea.

Day 10 : Crete

Transfer from Hotel to Santorini port for the ferry to the island of Crete – Heraklio. Upon arrival in Heraklio - Crete, transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the afternoon to walk around the ancient city of Heraklio which has a wide variety of restaurants and bars, where you can experience the typical Cretan cuisine which is the basis of Mediterranean cuisine. The evening is free to be able to taste the famous Cretan typical drink called "raki" and the characteristic sound of the Cretan music.

Day 11: Crete – Optional tours

Drive north-west the region of Rethymnon, and visit the traditional village of Axos for practicing the Making of Cheese with -optional traditional lunch-: An excursion in Cretan nature that will fill you with images, aromas and unforgettable experiences! In a land of 35,000 m2 filled with all kinds of trees (olive trees, Kermes oaks – “prinos”, maple trees etc.) and local animals, with a rich garden, a threshing space, the famous “giristi” (vaulted stone fence of a special construction), the “mitato”

(the shepherd’s house) and the traditional “tirokeli” (underground cell – cheese dairy, built inside the earth), our visitors have the chance to experience the Cretan nature and way of living in ways they have never thought before. We will walk around the Farm, talk about the trees and bushes that grow in our region, smell the aromatic plants and herbs of Crete and learn about their magic powers, we will watch baby lambs, sheep, rabbits, chicken, horses and other domestic animals and birds in their natural habitat. Then we will thresh with our horse, we will be taught everything about

milking at the traditional “giristi”, we will visit our “mitato” where we can make and taste local cheese, while next we will get to know the special space where cheese matures, our unique, underground cheese cell (“tirokeli”).In the “mitato”, you will feel the impeccable Cretan hospitality with various treats as raki and other local products, while you may purchase the special goods of our Farm. After program all of our guests will be treated with raki, Cretan rusk bread, theme honey + Cretan cheese. A delicious traditional lunch will be offered at the farm’s restaurant “Iperoon”.

 

Olive Tasting & Cooking at a Cretan Olive Estate K (from Heraklion)

The K Cretan Mill is a family estate and a traditional olive mill in the Protected Designation of Origin Archanes, Heraklion, Crete. They produce the oils exclusively from their olive groves. About 2000 trees surround the olive mill. From the tree to the bottle they strive for perfection and authenticity in quality and taste. They make extra virgin olive oils using the most ancient and modern methods of olive oil extraction with a telling effect. The Cretan Mill established in Crete in 1999, and is a family business. The family, has a passion for olive oil that led them to build their state-of-the-art olive mill, at the very heart of Cretan land, to ensure optimum quality olive oils from the tree to the bottle.

 

Olive oil Tasting: An interactive activity to a Cretan family’s olive press which presents the olive production stages from the olive picking to the oil-tasting and the secret tips to recognize the quality olive oil! The tour includes an outside walk to the vineyard and discussion about organic olive tree farming. Then the tour continues inside and includes information about extra virgin olive oils production both methods; first cold pressed and cold extraction systems are explained. A seated tasting of 3 extra virgin olive oils takes place with 2 flavored oils, table olives, Cretan sweet vinegar and petimezi with water and bread!

 

Cooking lesson & lunch=> Duration: 3+ hours: An interactive activity including you and a Cretan cooker who will show you how to prepare with fresh and organic ingredients authentic local recipes and you will enjoy tasting after you have cooked them! The cooking 17 classes can be tailored to meet specific customers’ preferences.

A full menu (appetizer, main + dessert) will be enjoyed by the participants. They will make 2 dishes, but eat 3. Included water, bread, 1 glass of wine, 1 coffee and 1 raki.

 

By Night & Beer tasting with snacks

A late afternoon city walk to the pedestrian streets of the town! If you think Heraklion looks

beautiful during the day, you’ll undoubtedly be in awe of what the historic city has to offer

at night. As the skies start to darken, the lights in the town plaza and along the shopping

streets provide a different kind of charm. The town with the most intense nightlife in Crete,

Heraklion offers many chances for a night out. The night entertainment consists of modern

and traditional spots to enjoy!

Day 12 : Crete

Free day to know the largest island in Greece, where the Minoan civilization existed and the Palace of Knossos which was the political and economic center of that time. The Venetian castle in Rethymnon is a place that will leave you speechless as well as a walk through the Samaria Gorge, which is a tourist attraction for nature lovers.

Day 13 : 

Departure transfer to Heraklio airport and flight to Athens to connect to your onward flight.
