Day 5

We start the day at the Roman ruins of Caesarea, located just a  mile from the Golf course.  This was the capital of the country during Roman times and was built by King Herod.  Paul was imprisoned here before being sent to Rome for His trial.  We will see the impressive theater, aqueduct, hippodrome and port.  On to Haifa, Israel’s main port located on the slopes of Mount Carmel.  WE gaze down the mountain and see the beautiful golden domed Bahai Shrine.  Continue to Acre, a multicultural city with thousands of years of history.  Here we stroll the narrow street, enjoy the busy market and gaze upon the fishing boats.  Our last stop today is Rosh Hanikra, a natural wonder where the see carved out caverns with its endless action of the waves.

Overnight in Haifa or The Galilee

Day 6

Today we explore the Galilee area.  This region is connected to the history of Judaism and Christianity.  We start in Safed, one of the holy Jewish cities.  We walk along the old city’s streets, visit the many art galleries and see the ancient synagogues.  On to Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus.  We visit the Basilica of The Annunciation and Mary’s Well.  Around The Sea of Galilee, we visit the sites that were the basis for Jesus’ teaching and prophecy.  These sites include Capernaum, Tabgha and The Mount of Beatitudes.

Return to our hotel in Haifa or The Galilee for overnight.

Day 7

Our first stop today is The Jordan River, where we see the Yardenit Baptismal Site.  Next we drive along the Jordan Valley to Jerischo, the oldest city in the world.  Visit The ancient archeological mound and Hisham’s Palace before ascending through The Judean Desert to Jerusalem.  Upon arrival we gaze on the magnificent views over the entire golden city of Jerusalem from the top of Mount of Olives.

Day 8

In the morning we enter the Old City and walk along the narrow alleys to The Western Wall.  This is the only remnant of the Temple to God and thus is the holiest place for Jews.  Walk along parts of The Via Dolorosa – the way of sorrows until we reach the Holy Sepulcher – the burial place of Jesus according to many traditions.  We will have time to explore the busy markets before visiting Mount Zion and The Room of The Last Supper.

Day 9

Early this morning we drive to the lowest place on Earth – The Dead Sea.  Here we ascend Massada, the mountaintop fortress palace built by King Herod.  Jewish Zealots chose to commit suicide here during the rebellion against Rome rather than fall into slavery under Roman Legions.  We see the ruins of the palaces, store rooms, bath house and synagogue.  On to one of the Dead Sea beaches, where we can experience the unique feeling of floating on the water while swimming.  Our last stop today is Qumran, the archeological site where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.  Return to Jerusalem for ovewrnight.

Day 10

IN the morning we will visit The Israel Museum, where we see the model of Jerusalem as it appeared during the 1st century AD.  Here we also visit The Shrine of The Book, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed.  On to Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the Holocaust for an emotional visit.  In the afternoon we drive to Bethlehem and visit The Church of Nativity and Shepherd’s Fields.
